How to layer & make the best of your clothes this winter

Winter is almost here..well, at least in the States. Everybody is busy pulling out their winter clothes & shopping for new ones too. A cold winter day does not have to be, waking up, getting ready & grabbing that one black or brown coat & leaving home. In winter I always go into what I call a 'Fashion Dilemma'. Sometimes, in one day its too cold to lose the jacket & at the same time too hot to keep it on. Also I also face situations where everyone in the room is feeling hot & I am the only one cold & no one lets me turn on the heat!!! So for such confusing winter days, layering is something which comes to my rescue. Although layering might sound like some thing which might require you to put on your 'shopping shoes' and go surf the mall...but, in this post I will show you how I layer clothes to keep warm with the ones already in my wardrobe.

All you need for some basic layering:

1. Button down shirt
2. Sweater
3. Cardigan
4. Jacket/coat
& of course you jeans or leggings & shoes!

Here is a 'pink' example
By wearing something like this, you can easily modify your outfit according to your day or weather!

Lose the jacket if its not too cold!

Or you can also transition your spring & summer clothes into fall & winter. Pull out your spring floral dress & add on necessary layers to make suit the winter weather.

Add in a pair of leggings to go with the look.

So now for those days when keeping the jacket makes you feel hot as a desert & taking it off makes you feel like you are locked up in the refrigerator, let layering come to your rescue. Keep your layering creative by mixing colors & patterns!

Here is a little OOTD. Please excuse my dirty mirror :)
As it wasn't a very cold day I didn't add any jacket on.

Do you guys like layering? Do you have some really cool tips to offer? Please don't forget to comment below & let me know :)

Thank you so much for stopping by lovelies. Have a fantastic day!

  1. Layering is a lifesaver at this time of the year. I am that girl that has a space heater by my feet when everyone else is sweating haha. Great to read how you handle this dilemma, :). http://fashionablyidu.blogspot.com/
