The biggest event in bollywood which happened this week was bollywood actor Salman Khan's little sister, Arpita Khan's wedding. The details & pictures of the wedding have taken the Indian media & internet by storm. Her wedding took place in my favorite city in the whole wide world, 'Hyderabad '. As two of my favorite things, Bollywood fashion & Hyderabad were a part of this wedding, I was bound to google it & stalk actors instagrams non stop! With so many bollywood actresses attending the wedding the event was nothing less than a fashion show.
First, here is what Arpita Khan wore in her Mehndi ceremony. This beautiful elaborate ensemble is by the designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Arpita Khan got married at the royal Taj Falaknuma Palace. It was a palace owned by the Nizams of Hyderabad, now made into a luxury hotel. Though the mehendi & sangeet were held in Mumbai, this lahenga was perfect to kick start the ceremony, with sort of a royal feel to it. The motifs & zardosi embroidery on the lahenga are actually a part of the Hyderabadi culture.
Arpita Khan wore this larger than life red & gold lahenga designed by Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla. It is very pretty but I am sure it would have been very heavy too.
Now, here are my favorite outfits worn by different actresses at the wedding
First up is Malaika Arora Khan, sister-in-law of the bride wearing Seema Khan's outfits, who is also family.
Salman Khan's Jai Ho Daisy Shah attended the farewell lunch at the palace & wore this beautiful white lahenga by Sabyasachi.
Here, she is posing with the bride & groom. Look at the beautiful Falaknuma Palace, will you?!! It looks amazing!
My favorite out of all is Priyanka Chopra! This royal, rich blue color with gold really compliments her complexion. I personally love clothes which are simple with one or two focal points. The blouse & border being the focus here. The gold accents, her make-up & hair & of course her beauty take this saree to another level! She looks so elegant & effortlessly beautiful!
Apart from all the fashion, here are two cute pictures from the wedding!
This picture Salman posted of him lying down at Arpita's feet hinting that he wants her to throw the 'Kalirey' at him is so adorable. 'Kalirey' is a hand ornament worn by the brides & there is a ritual where, if the 'kalira' falls on anyone unmarried, they will get married soon!
