The Daily Desi Wardrobe - Ethnic statement piece

This is the first post of the series 'The daily Desi wardrobe'. I hope you all enjoy reading this as much as I have enjoyed writing this.

We have all heard of statement necklace, statement earrings, statement bag & statement what not. Although most of you know what it is, let me still shine a little light on what a 'statement piece' is. A statement piece, as the name suggests is that which makes a statement. It is the most eye-catching & interesting element in your outfit. A strong statement piece in any form can lift up any outfit & change your entire look.

Are you wondering why am I going on about Statement pieces? That's because, today we are  going to talk about statement pieces, but with a desi twist. How does a desi statement piece sound? Sounds great to me. How can we create an Indian ethnic statement piece? There are many ways of doing that. But, today we shall focus on just one & that is our very own 'Dupatta'(scarf).

Bollywood actress, Priyanka Chopra posted this picture on her Facebok page recently & I fell in love with her dupatta.

We have been seeing heavily embroidered, netted, Anarkalis everywhere & they are beautiful, no doubt. But, I personally like subtler, mellowed down outfits. Like the one PC is wearing here. She looks gorgeous, Doesn't she? The one thing that stands out ( apart from her beauty) is her dupatta(scarf). Look how she kept her entire look so simple and let the dupatta be the statement piece. There is something so dainty & feminine about this look.

I think, this kind of look is neat, simple and very classy & elegant. I love it! Also if you are one who doesn't really feel comfortable in those heavy Indian wear, then this look is for you. This look can easily be carried to most Indian events & still feel comfortable &  not look dressed down.

If you are looking to get this look, here a few simple kurtas you can shop on Jabong.com. They Ship to most parts of the world.

Pair them up with a heavy dupatta to match the Kurta & chudidar salwar.

I am sure you will not have to go shopping for a dupatta as you will find it in your very own wardrobe.
